Paul DOHERTY

Paul Doherty, AIA, is the founder, president and CEO of The Digit Group  (TDG), which designs, builds and manufactures holistic smart cities that provide greater security, increased safety, lower energy use and a better urban experience.

TDG’s smart city solutions are created through a matrix of innovations such as master architectural design and engineering services, digital fabrication and manufacturing and the real-world implementation of the Internet of  Things. TDG’s solutions and technologies have been implemented in China, Southeast Asia, India, the Middle East, Europe and the U.S.
Recognized by CNBC as “an American business titan” in November 2017,  Mr. Doherty is an award-winning architect, author, educator, analyst and advisor to Fortune 500 companies, government agencies, prominent institutions and prestigious architectural, engineering and contracting firms around the world.

A senior fellow of the Design Futures Council, he is a recognized thought leader, strategist and integrator of process, technology and business. He is also the co-founder and producer of the critically acclaimed and popular AEC Hackathon series (www.aechackathon.com).  His past successful ventures include Revit (sold to Autodesk in 2002), Buzzsaw (sold to Autodesk in 2001) and TRIRIGA (sold to IBM in 2011).

Mr. Doherty’s leadership in the field of smart cities is based on his pioneering work in Building Information Modeling (BIM), a software process for creating and  managing information in large-scale construction programs across the project’s lifecycle. TDG’s flagship technology platform Orbi® is a real-time 3D gaming engine used to develop numerous smart city  applications. Connecting these apps to the physical environment provides urban inhabitants and city  mangers with innovative and useful experiences.
Mr. Doherty, a licensed architect, graduated from the New York Institute of Technology as well as the Career Discovery program at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design. He currently lives in  Memphis, Tennessee.
